Jail Officer
Jail officer recruit training is composed of thirteen (13) weeks offering quality training in numerous topics to include, but not limited to: Professionalism, ethics, constitutional law, use of force, EVOC, defensive tactics, firearms, hostage and disturbances to name a few.
Academy classrooms are designed to fit the needs of our students and instructors and requires discipline and the utmost integrity at all times. If you feel you are a fit for our Pre-Employment Program or you are hired by one of our member agencies, we would like to see you in our next recruitment class!

Law Enforcement Officer
LE officer recruit training is composed of twenty-two (22) weeks offering quality training in numerous topics to include, but not limited to: Professionalism, ethics, constitutional law, use of force, EVOC, defensive tactics, firearms, criminal investigations, traffic investigations, radar, etc.
Academy classrooms are designed to fit the needs of our students and instructors and requires discipline and the utmost integrity at all times. Below is a listing of courses available for Law Enforcement Officer training.
Dispatch/Telecommunicator
Basic dispatch training is composed of forty (40) hours of classroom training, along with a practical exercise, to demonstrate one’s knowledge of the subject matter. Training consist of, but not limited to: Legal, Professionalism, Judgement, and Communications.
Animal Control Officer
Animal Control Officer Basic School consists of three weeks of training combining both classroom and hands-on instruction for civilian recruits. This training period is shortened to two weeks if the student is already a certified jail, or law enforcement officer. The goal of this training is to ensure each student is well-versed in all class objectives in order to perform the roles of animal control with the utmost proficiency. The topics range from companion, agricultural, and wildlife animal care, diseases, transportation, dangerous animals, seizure of animals, shelter care, and euthanasia. Civilian students also receive instruction regarding the topics of search and seizure, civil liability, use of force, defensive tactics, and report writing. All who complete the training received a certification through the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy for a period of three years.
In-Service Classroom Training
PRCJTA strives to offer the best in-service training available to Law Enforcement. PRCJTA are proud to offer instructor lead in-service training at the Academy. Each available in-service will be instructor lead with a more hands on approach to the learning environment. We constantly seek the best outside instructors to come and share their wealth of knowledge in their own fields; as well as teach future instructors the information needed to pass along to future classes.
As we continue to grow and excel as an Academy we will update and add new in-service classroom training. The in-service classroom training will be molded to offer the best instruction available to give all of our member agencies and outside agencies the knowledge to be successful and proactive in Law Enforcement.

The academy approved additional training videos gives officers more credit hours. These are free and users can create a login to access the training content.

Campus Security
Initial Campus Security Training is composed of a minimum of 16 hours (two days) of classroom and hands-on training. Topics include role, laws, liability issues, mediation, emergency response, etc.

Virtual Academy offers flexible training solutions to meet the evolving needs of public safety. Their comprehensive platform combines the convenience of on-line learning providing a dynamic and engaging experience for your agency. Virtual Academy enables PRCJTA the ability to create its own content to meet the needs of its partners and members. In addition, many training videos and content meet numerous training standards approved by IADLEST.
